When I started as CEO of a federally qualified health center, things were in dire straits. They had an $800,000 deficit that was growing exponentially everyday, unique patient numbers had not grown in years, and the health center had a very low brand recognition (read: no one knew what we were or what we did).
I find that health centers are not very good at having a strong presence in their community, which means new patients go somewhere else, because they either don't know they exist or they don't know what they do.
Having a presence in the community and inviting the public into your health center is one of the key strategies we teach in our CEO Boot Camp to attract new patients and increase patient revenue.
