There is mounting evidence that the Great Resignation stemmed from employees being more intentional about seeking positions that align with their needs and career aspirations.

Before the pandemic, people either didn't realize they could prioritize their needs when looking for a position, or they didn't know what they valued, so they didn't take action to find something new.

🤔After the pandemic, employees are evaluating their values and non-negotiables, and if their employer can't provide them with what they need, then they move on.

According to survey data of more than 1,200 individuals, Professional Development and Learning Opportunities were the top recruitment and retention strategy in 2022.

Of the respondents, 58% say they are likely to leave their company without professional development or career training to develop new skills.

So, what skills are they looking to develop?

The top three skills employees think will be the most important for a successful career are:

âś…Leadership: 40%

âś…Critical Thinking: 36%

âś…Adaptability and agility: 35%

Does your health center offer professional development beyond clinical skills development? Do you offer it to all employees or just executives and clinical staff?

96% of workers consider developing their skills very important. If you want to attract and retain high-quality employees, create a culture of learning and help your employees flourish. You will save thousands of dollars in turnover costs, and your patients will benefit from having consistent staff to connect with at your health center.
